Can someone give me an actual example of a female hero who is portrayed as a “tomboy”?
Literally every female hero is hyper feminine.
Katniss is a tomboy, thats why its so incredible when she is forced to “dress up” for the Capital.
Merida from Brave, also a “tomboy.”
But the problem is, why aren’t there more feminine or more tomboy heroines. Its why are the feminine heroines deemed “less” so because they embrace “stereotypical” femininity. People appreciated Merida and love Mulan becasue they say they are “different” heroines, but don’t appreciate more feminine heroines because they represent a stereotype. We need to appreciate both types and create complex characters that aren’t just reliant on descriptors like tomboy or girly-girl because that relegates an entire girl’s personality to her looks and fashion interest and interest in men.
